About this site
Contained in these pages are answers to similar questions: things that the food manufacturers are not duty bound to divulge and would prefer you not to know as their profits would likely suffer as a result. This isn’t an all-out attack on modern food companies, but rather a source of information to help highlight the drawbacks of a processing industry that can have detrimental effects to the consumer’s health.
I also discuss in simple terms the alternatives to these over-refined products and outlines the mechanisms by which your body receives and reacts to different foods and provides the key points to enable you to successfully lose weight and maintain a good standard of health.
There are no gimmicks here and I won’t pretend to help you achieve your desired weight and physique within a fortnight with no effort. Instead, I will show you that you need never embark on a ‘fad’ diet ever again.
‘Fad’ diets may appear to work at first because they tend to work on the principle of starving your body of an important component of nutrition. They almost always have a time limit and sometimes even a specified menu set out for you to follow for the duration. This approach to dieting, while possibly providing some initial results, simply isn’t sustainable. Because you’ve been restricted from certain foods, you can’t wait for the diet to end, and when it does what do you do, find another one? Typically, the answer is no: people normally revert back to their usual eating-habits because it included foods that they prefer to eat and before they know it they’re back to the size and weight that prompted them to find the last diet.
I will explain the common reasons for being overweight and generally unhealthy while offering simple advice that is often overlooked that will last you your whole lifetime. In the meantime you will be able to eat virtually anything you want. This is a journey where the destination is the journey itself.
It is important to say at this point that I am not a doctor, nutritionist or a dietician, but coming from a sporting background and having lived in various parts of the world I have gained valuable knowledge through my own observations, experiences and interactions with people, some of who are doctors, nutritionists and dieticians.
In these pages is everything you need to achieve lasting results, but if you are looking for a magic pill, then this approach is not for you as it will take a small amount of self control. Good luck in your search for the perfect solution, but I can tell you that magic pills don’t exist!
Many common ailments presented to family doctors including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), skin complaints and tiredness or lethargy to name but a few can be easily avoided by eating a balanced diet. People who experience some of these symptoms often diagnose their own problem and prescribe their own remedies, for example by buying supplements from a health shop on the strength of an article they have read in a newspaper or magazine. In actual fact, if they had eaten the balanced diet that everyone is urged to eat the problem would probably not have existed in the first place. Many of the health-shop supplements are manufactured in laboratories despite the fact that they are also to be found in fresh, natural foods. Doesn’t it make more sense to eat the natural foods instead?
